W+K Exp, in collaboration with the Harrington Street Arts Centre, Kolkata present Writing Visuals.
Curated by Adip Dutta, the exhibition Writing Visuals attempts to establish the relationship between writing and drawing. Just as writing is a mode of expression through language and the alphabet, drawing too has its own visual alphabet – such as line, form, symbols, motifs and sometimes even text. When these are creatively put together they create a sense of language –a visual language.
The exhibition will include linear drawings and geometric forms by Vivan Sundaram and Manisha Parekh, etchings on silk by Mekhala Bahl, etchings on paper by
Paula Sengupta, text on a paper sculpture by Pooja Iranna, an artist’s book by
Jogen Chowdhury, working drawings for a sculpture by N.N. Rimzon, hair imprints by Mithu Sen, ‘caricreatures’ by Kishore Chatterjee, charcoal drawings by Samir Roy,
Dilip Ranade’s pen on paper, mixed media works on paper by Jayashree Chakraborty and graphic illustrations by Sarnath Banerjee, amongst others.

Writing Visuals is open Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 7 pm.
