What Happens in Mukteshwar
An exhibition of works inspired by our first artists retreat

What Happens in Mukteshwar is an exhibition that resulted from the first ever artists retreat organized by W+K Exp. The retreat took place earlier on in the year in the sylvan and mountainous region of Kumaon where the artists spent six days traversing through Mukteshwar and its surrounding areas.

The intent behind the retreat was to allow for a creative process that would lead to collaborative dialogue, shared creative process and a shared experience amongst a select group of artists.  This in turn would give the artists a chance to nurture each other’s practice, create new works in response to one another and think beyond individual limitations.

The exhibition will showcase over 30 works comprising all genres and mediums –  from photography to prints, sculptural installations, drawings, assemblages, and works on paper, wood, canvas. The subjects of the works, inspired from the shared experience at the retreat, encompass the journey to Mukteshwar, the place itself and the dialogue and interaction amongst the group.

Participating artists: Aji V.N., Anoop Panicker, Atul Bhalla, G.R. Iranna, George Martin PJ, Gigi Scaria, K. M. Madhusudhanan, Murali Cheeroth, Parvathi Nayar, Pooja Iranna, Prajakta Potnis, Prasad Raghavan, Riyas Komu, Sumedh Rajendran, Vibha Galhotra, and Vivek Vilasini.

Selected works by Anoop Panicker, Atul Bhalla, George Martin, Gigi Scaria, Pooja Iranna, Prasad Raghavan, Riyas Komu, Sumedh Rajendran and Vivek Vilasini will be shown at W+K Exp between March 25th and April 30th, 2011. The remaining works from What Happens in Mukteshwar can be viewed upon appointment.
